A reflective essay discussing my personal experience in holding the dual identities of artist and educator. This essay reflects on my journey in experience and goals from my upbringing to my college education.

Censored Sexuality: The Motivation Behind Betty Tompkins’ Artwork and Censorship

Researching the artwork from the 1970s of accomplished artist Betty Tompkins which was unseen until the early 2000s. Tompkins' artwork was deemed 'pornographic' and has been censored in certain settings till this day. This research essay explores the abstract expressionist artwork that Tompkins created, the psychology behind her paintbrush and why her artworks were censored.

Researching the environmental artwork of land artist David Nash and textile artist Natsai Audrey Chieza. David Nash is an English male artist who engages with his natural landscape and creates conceptual land art. Natsai Audrey Chieza responds to unsustainable fashion and water waste with growing fabric dyeing bacteria.

Through research of education dating back to Ancient Greece, I learned about philosophies and teachings throughout history. In this essay, I unpack key developments in Irish history since the 1920s and I research the history and development of Relationships & Sexual Education.
