SMALL PROJECTS

National College of Art & Design

A collection of works carried out in the early stages of my degree exploring many different processes and elements before refining my technique and ability.

LILY COWAP, 2019

Performance piece using torn black plastic bags and bin bags.

Looking at the theme of 'The Bag', I chose to work with plastic bags for this project. I was particularly interested in how plastic looks under water. Looking at movement underwater,  I found the material held such delicacy and elegance.

Photos are stills from an underwater video project in the ocean and are edited using Lightroom. Performer is Lily Cowap.

WATERLILY, 2019

A short conceptual project in sculpture module. Using only paper to create large scale sculpture of a waterlily morphed with a jellyfish. From above sits a beautiful big flower, from below a moving and delicate tentacle walkway. This sculpture was to highlight thalassophobia as well as investigate the nature of a waterlily and how it claims a gender.

ART PORTFOLIO FOR ENTRY TO NCAD, 2017

Taking two themes; growth and openings, I explored many materials and processes, merging the two.
