Felt Workshop: NCAD Access Scheme, 2020
A short introduction workshop to Textile, Art and Artefact at National College of Art and Design. Students from Deis Schools came to the college as part of an access scheme.

Post-primary school students visited NCAD for a one-day workshop in Textile Art and Artefact. I collaborated with a fellow student to team teach this workshop in felt. Students were very engaged and really enjoyed what we did with them.
Students created 2D images using loose felting wool and creating friction. An enjoyable and physical activity with a quick and exciting outcome.
There was a great atmosphere in this workshop with music playing and casual chat. Students produced gorgeous pieces of work and really got to know the material. We asked student to evaluate the workshop at the end with likes/dislikes etc. We asked them to come back at the end of the day to collect their work and take a group photo!

Presentation on the Workshop
This presentation details the planning of this workshop, sourcing the materials and carrying the day out. We really enjoyed this as it was great practice in education and also a lot of fun. This workshop was about learning a new skill and playing for the students and I believe they did just that.

Evaluations and thank you notes left by the students at the end of the workshop. This feedback was very helpful for any future workshops or schemes in felt.
