STUDIO WORK

Textile Art & Artefact
Projects carried out whilst studying at NCAD

I have always felt passionate about my local landscape and the ocean. In my practices, I analyse, replicate, and celebrate my favourite elements of Ireland. In my studio work, I explore psychological concepts and historical practices through fabric manipulation and storytelling. When researching and analysing the geography of County Wicklow, I looked at life in my local landscape and ancient Ogham trees that naturally grow in its vast and wild valleys. Through understanding my surroundings, I have immersed myself into nature by foraging and creating natural dyes from native Irish plants. I have harvested, spun and woven my own fabric from life in my landscape and created bio-degradable alternatives to plastic buttons using beeswax and tree sap.
